Ahh…..it’s the beginning of a new year…..a time when our thoughts turn to creating positive changes in our lives. We all have our own list, and for most of us it seems endless, lose weight, eat healthier, start exercising, get on a budget, or get organized. I am not going to lie, I still have my list, but there is one thing that I have worked hard on over the years, one thing that I can say I have accomplished and it has changed my life in more ways than one. That one thing is getting organized! When you choose to get organized it can benefit your life in many ways, but if I had to choose the top 5 ways, this is what they would be…
Getting Organized…
1. Clears your mind.
If you are anything like me, when my house is cluttered, my brain feels cluttered. All I can concentrate on is the MESS! I could be spending quality time with my kids or my husband and giving them all of my attention. However all I can see is dishes in the sink, toys strewn all over the floor, and dirty laundry everywhere! When my space is clean and organized, it gives me a sense of peace and allows me to be truly present with them, enjoying them to the fullest.
2. Makes you love your home….
When my house is messy and unorganized, my first thought is “I don’t want to be here!” That’s crazy though, because our house is suppose to be our safe place, our place of refuge, our place of peace, but when it is messy and chaotic it can feel more like a war zone! Who wants to live in a war zone? Not me! Getting things organized can make you LOVE your home again, and when you love your home, you want to be there! There is no greater feeling!
3. Eliminates stress….
Clutter creates a tremendous amount of stress. Clutter can create stress in the form of forgetting where you put something, not being on time to an event or activity because you were too busy searching for missing items, or even yelling at your kids or spouse to find their missing items. The list goes on and on, and its just not worth it! When you get rid of the clutter you would be amazed at how much stress you eliminate!
4. Have more energy….
Clutter drains our energy! Do me a favor, walk into the most cluttered room in your house and simply take note of how you feel? Is it harder to breathe? Does it almost immediately make you more anxious and stressed? The opposite is true when get rid of clutter! You will feel like you can breathe again, you will feel less anxious, and you will have more energy!
5. Improves Family Relationships….
Last but not least you will become a better person, and the relationship with those around you will improve also! When everyone has an established routine and is on the same page your relationship improves! Kids especially THRIVE on routine, they like to know what’s next, it gives them a sense of peace and comfort! When you don’t have to spend your time yelling at them to “pick up this” or “where did you put that?” your relationship only gets better!
So there you have it! Have I convinced you yet that this is your year to get organized?
I hope so! What do you have to lose? Other than the clutter!

I am excited to read your blog and gain education and encouragement in organizing my home. Especially with my recent moves and lack of home items currently (as they are in storage) it would behoove me to read, listen, and implement while slowing bringing things back to my home. 🙂
This is awesome, and so true!
I’m so motivated to start this closet organizing with my girls’ room. I love all your container ideas. I’m so excited to see this problem being solved. ❤️😊
